An opportunity for businesses and organizations to support our
Low-Income Food Access Program
Become a Program Sponsor
The Portland Farmers' Market Association's Low-Income Food Access Program fights hunger and promotes healthy eating by making the market accessible to shoppers facing food insecurity.

Our program allows shoppers who receive SNAP/EBT (formerly known as food stamps) benefits, to shop the entire market with their benefit funds, through our centralized Market Information Booth. Additionally, we offer a SNAP matching bonus with Maine Harvest Bucks (MHB) to buy more fruits and vegetables. We work closely with the Maine Federation of Farmers' Markets (MFFM) to offer this 1:1 matching nutrition incentive (MHB) in the form of tokens that can be used to buy fruits and vegetables at the farmers’ market.

Additionally, we offer the Maine Senior FarmShare Program, which provides income-eligible seniors over 60 yrs old, with $50/year in market vouchers to spend on fruits, vegetables, and honey at the market.

We work with community organizations to support and reach more of our community each year, and to make sure as many people as possible know that they can stretch their food budgets, while experiencing the benefit of shopping at a farmers' market.
Since 2011, our program is helping hundreds of families and seniors to purchase more nourishing fruits and vegetables to live healthier lives and feel more connected to their community
